How to Cozy Up Your Home for Fall

Fall is the perfect time for warming up your home: figuratively and literally! With some very simple swap-outs or additions, you can bring in the warm and cozy feeling you crave as the evenings get crisper and cooler without breaking the bank! By just swapping out, or layering in, a few key accessories you can easily cozy up to the season. Thankfully, not only are the beautiful autumnal colors on-trend in home decor right now, they're easy additions to warm up any room! Rich burgundies, golden caramels, and the organic addition of wood feng and fire elements, are easy ways to freshen your home for the fall. Here are some of my favorites. We talked to some of our favorite go-to interior Design Pros and got their examples on how they'd transform some of their favorite client projects to be fall/winter ready.

1.

We'd love to play around with styling a beautiful tablescape in this example of a dining room W+B designed! We'd go ultra edgy and avant garde like the Carrara Dinnerware Collection and Black Mepra Flatware for example. This feels Halloween-esque but is totally chic year round. To keep the cozy going, add a ton of candles layered together in various heights and sizes such as pillars mixed with candlesticks and votives to keep it interesting.

2.

Accessories are the easiest way to update your look so we love to mix in updated accessories or even swap them out for ones in other rooms to make a space feel fresh. Candles are the quickest way to warm up a room but also cool art books, sculptures and bookends can totally transform your shelves to feel fresh.

3.Swap OUT YOUR TABLE CenterpieceS

Whether you go for a centerpiece with fresh live blooms, fall foliage or even a bowl of seasonal fruit like apples, pears and pomegranates, your dining tables centerpiece should be your go-to for a quick update for the season or any dinner party event. Play with footed bowls, vases & vessels, fruit bowls or big carved decorative wood vessels and see what works great for the shape of your table. Don't want something you have to maintain or keep fresh? Fill it with glass balls, dried or faux flowers or fun do-dads for an artistic and maintenance free centerpiece idea!

1. Change your pilloWs out for the seasoN

Swapping out your decorative pillows is the quickest way to update your living room without a doubt! We love Zoe's living room she designed above and could totally imagine some bolder, Fall hued pillows layered on it to make it feel warmer and more seasonal. Try mixing in velvets, leather, chunky weaves and faux fur pillows for a seasonal feel.

2.AMP UP YOUR SPACE WITH Accent Decor

Playing around with your coffee table decor is such an easy way to make little tweaks that change the vibe of a space. We love layering on beautiful decorative trays and filling them with candles, sculptures, carved boxes (great to hide remotes) and incense. Or try a footed bowl with cinnamon scented pine cones or potpourri for a warm amber, woodsy or apple scent that'd get anyone in the fall spirit!

3.Layer SOFT & COZY THROWS ON your chairs and couches

Quickest way to cozy up, literally? Cozy and soft throw blankets of course! We love to layer these beautiful cashmere and wool throw blankets on our sofas and lounge chairs for a fun decorative and functional addition to the season. We also love to keep a basket of spares on hand ready for guests coming over for movie night as well!

John McClain Featured Project

1.

"Many times, we might limit our seasonal décor swap-outs to only soft furnishings, but adding an organic element warms up a room perfectly for those crisp evenings."

Try mixing in some wood chargers onto your dining table, a carved wood centerpiece bowl or tray on your coffee table or some beautiful candlesticks on your entryway table for example.

2. Seasonally swap your toss pillows.

"The absolute easiest seasonal décor change is your toss pillows!"

I crave the textural shagginess of the yak pillow, and the modern geometric lines of the ruby and gold patterned pillow. If a graphic pattern isn’t your thing, consider an abstract, yet autumnally toned pillow. I’m MAD about the fall colors in this quill pillow too! The key with brightly colored pillows is to mix them with some neutrals to prevent them from being overpowering.

3.incorpOrate Warm lighting.

"Lamps can also evoke that comforting fall sensation."

The simple addition of luminaries in chic fall tones enliven any room. I especially appreciate the versatility of these holders: use them separately or as shown as a gorgeous nod to a lit fire.

These great candlesticks provide lots of fall vibes! Organic wood tones, warm brass, and the warmth of a candle.

Décor Tip: Groups of threes in varying sizes are a no-fail way to accessorize.
